My whole career has been about the consumer, understanding what they want, how and what they buy and how businesses can make money out of this. Retailers, vendors and platforms working together effectively is the dream and I’ve spent my working life learning how to make this happen.
Retail is the most exciting, innovative, dynamic sector, Fact. I’ve experienced the peaks, troughs, new products, new channels, trends, successes, failures and met some brilliant people along the way.
My best successes have come from working closely with retailers. Seeing a new product on shelf or or helping them integrate a new piece of tech never gets boring. With experience comes confidence and a calm of air of reassurance as I know what I’m talking about. Sales-y, no. A trusted no nonsense advisor, yes.
I’ve been that person, sitting in a retailer’s reception, pitch ready, stomach churning, sometimes nailing it and sometimes never hearing from them again. It’s always a challenge, but I’ll help you navigate working with a retailer, including going in to that meeting with confidence.
Some of my best days have been watching vendors pitching. I’ve seen thousands. I’m pretty good at knowing what will resonate with the audience and I love helping people prepare the content, but also encourage them to relax, breathe and talk like a human.
Do I have a USP? I don’t know, but I know I do I have a unique experience of working with product suppliers, tech vendors, start-ups, centuries old manufacturers, retailers, marketplaces, investors, business support organisations, management consultants (I was one), media and PR agencies. If I can’t help you, I will probably know someone who can.
Am I passionate about this? No, but I really enjoy it. Life is more than shopping.
